A State of Mind

I'm convinced that "laughing at your self" is a state of mind.  You can be in it even if you are not thinking or saying anything particularly funny.  It's a place you can put yourself where the world around you takes on a humorous tone.  You're a step removed, looking on, relaxed, maybe verging on happy. Nothing is really going to bother you, because what ever there is to be said, you've already said about yourself.  In the last paragraph of the novel "Cutting Through the Knot,"  I call it "thinking funny."
